Wanting What God Wants for You
One morning I woke up to a man's voice coming from the tv preaching weeds and thorns, inviting folks to spend more time thinking about their looks and abilities and future earning potential. In fact, that was one of his favorite words, "potential." He was very concerned about how we view our potential to be 'A' students and successful business people.
The truth is the only potential you have that has any real meaning is your potential to humble yourself before your Creator and glorify Him in how you use your talents and abilities.
Your value isn't bound up in the things you know or the things you can accomplish. Your value is derived solely from being created in His image. As such, you cannot add value or remove value. He has done this thing.
So stop listening to these folks that tell you God wants you to be beautiful and rich and respected and famous. God wants one thing for you: obedience from a pure heart. (Eccl 12:13,14)
